Developing Good Home Oral Care, Especially Now

At any given time, our mouth plays host to billions of bacteria that can result in plaque and periodontal disease. Therefore during this oral careCOVID-19 routine dentist care shutdown, it is imperative for all to create and follow a proper oral hygiene routine which is crucial to your health.

Here are some easy tips to help you develop an effective oral care routine.

Proper Oral Hygiene Care

The majority of your oral hygiene routine will center on brushing and flossing your teeth, as well as cleaning your tongue. Your mouth can be divided into quadrants. Proper brushing means spending at least 30 seconds for each quadrant holding the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle pointing to your gums. All the surfaces of the teeth must be brushed evenly. As part of your routine, brushing must be done at least twice daily.

To follow up on your brushing, you must also floss your teeth at least once every day. Flossing should include all of your teeth up to the back of your mouth. The floss should be long enough so that you can wrap both ends to your fingers and can lower the floss in between your teeth to follow its curve. This prevents you from damaging your gums. Do this for all of your teeth.

Additionally, you should clean your tongue using a circular motion to remove the bacteria present on its surface. You may also utilize floss to scrape the surface of your tongue. Combine this routine with every brushing or flossing activity.

Mouth Rinse

Even if you brush, floss, and clean your tongue, you cannot be 100% certain that you have removed the bacteria from your mouth if you do not rinse properly. How do you rinse properly? The best way to get added protection is to use a mouth rinse with antimicrobial properties. You may likewise opt for a fluoride mouth rinse to combat tooth decay.
